Dr. Lydia Umar is an award-winning development expert, researcher and educator who is specialized in gender and peace issues. She founded Gender Awareness Trust in 2000. The Nigeria-based NGO has a record of success in managing projects funded by USAID, UKAID and the United Nations.
Dr. Umar a 1st Class Honors recipient bagged a PHD. in Curriculum Development (Social Studies) from ABU Zaria 2001. She is currently the Executive Director, Gender Awareness Trust (GAT). She is a popular speaker and trainer who have consulted on projects across Nigeria and in more than 20 nations.

Linda Sidi - Umar is the programme manager at GAT where she coordinates and manages project of the organization. Linda has previously held several positions like Volunteer, Assistant project officer e.t.c.
Linda earned a master degree in Business Administration in 2017. She currently lives in Kaduna with her family.

Sophie Patience Akut - works as a Programme Officer at GAT, developing program initiatives, seeking grants and proposals, managing projects and ensuring programs align with organizational goals and objectives. She has successfully managed two previous GAT projects under the democracy and good governance thematic area, supported by National Endowment for Democracy and is currently managing a Gender Based Violence Project funded by Amplify Change.
Sophie is a graduate of Agricultural Economics and Rural Sociology from the Ahmadu Bello University Zaria; and is currently working on a Master's in Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution from the Nigerian Open University.

Tukurah Andrew Bege- works as a Finance Officer with GAT, managing the finances of GAT and keeps track of its income and controlling its spending.
Tukurah is a graduate of Federal Cooperative College, Kaduna State, where he obtained Higher National Diploma in Economics and Management and also bagged PGD in Accounting and Finance from Kaduna State University.
